Jenny Renfroe is a freshman from Athens, AL and she is majoring in chemical engineering.

When I first walked into the Tide 4 Christ student center, I had so many emotions: fear, excitement, and anticipation. I’m sort of an introvert, so I was worried about introducing myself to so many new people. However, I was overwhelmed by how easy it was to fit in with this group of people. Tide 4 Christ is a group that consists of genuinely great individuals. I am so glad that I came to be a part of this group. Here are 3 things that I hope to accomplish from being a part of T4C and that I think we all should strive to do as servants of Christ:

  • Spiritual Growth

After getting to know some of the students in T4C, it became clear that what I was doing back home wasn’t enough. There are some very knowledgeable bible students in the group. Talking to them has really inspired me to increase my own personal study. I was raised going to worship services every time that the doors were open, going to every youth group activity, and everything in between. It becomes easy to get caught up in the routine, stuck on a spiritual “plateau.” However, the key to a rich life in Christ is to keep progressing, to keep growing in faith and knowledge of His word.

  • Bring Others to Christ

As Christians, we strive every day to live like Jesus. If we are really asking ourselves the question “what would Jesus do?” then we will answer with, “He would seek and save the lost” (Luke 19:10). Our purpose on earth is to be fishers of men. 2 Timothy 4:5 says, “But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.”We hear this all the time, but how often do we actually act on it? The gospel is too great to be kept to ourselves. We have to share with others and tell them what they’re missing out on. Everyone deserves to hear the good news: Jesus Christ died for you, He arose, and He is alive!

  • Build Christian Relationships

In high school and now college, I have realized the importance of having a good group of friends that you can rely on. They say to surround yourself with the kind of people that you want to be, and that is what Tide4Christ is to me. I look up to so many people in this group. Tide4Christ is full of people that would love to pray with you, study with you, or just simply talk to you.  It is a blessing to have Christian friends that you can go to when you need help, prayers, advice, etc. I have spent the majority of my time here at UA with Tide4Christ, and I have loved every second. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us.

As Paul told the church in Philippi, we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength! While I hope that equates to great times together, I know that my ultimate goal is to learn more about His plan for my life each and every day. Tide4Christ is here to help me and you grow together at the University of Alabama. Roll Tide!
