Hey there, my name is Tristan Rittenhouse, and I am currently a senior at The University of Alabama studying Exercise Science, and I am also the Vice President of Tide 4 Christ student ministry. Throughout my four years at UA I have been very active in Tide 4 Christ and I have found that I have made a lot of good friends, but I have also learned a whole lot more than I expected.
There is apparently a stigma around public universities that you are less likely to stay faithful in your religion than if you were to go to a private Christian school. However, I don’t feel like that is the case really. We have a really good opportunity at UA to reach people that may have grown up never going to church in their lives. I feel like in my four years in Tide 4 Christ I have learned more about the Bible than I had in my entire life. That is something that I am most thankful for, but also the relationships that I have built with good Christian people.
I have found that I really like to listen to what students in Tide 4 Christ have to say about the Bible because I didn’t really grow up in the Church of Christ, so I feel like my knowledge of the Bible is less than most of the people within Tide 4 Christ who have grown up in the Church. I am beyond thankful for all of the things that Tide 4 Christ and Central Church of Christ have taught me in the past four years of my life.
but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
